LIVE A POSITIVE LIFE. INFLUENCE OTHERS.
I spent some two hours of my Saturday in a Shiseido workshop at the Marionnaud store at Mall of Asia.

As Celeste Chavez, the training manager of Shiseido explained the proper steps in applying makeup, I recalled the interview I did with Shiseido executives in Tokyo, Japan five years ago. I love make up, so when I had the chance to choose the topics I want to write about when I attended a month-long Journalism seminar sponsored by the Japanese publishers Association, I immediately thought of coming up with a topic on makeup. I was fortunate to interview the Shiseido executives at Ginza, Tokyo. I consider that experience as one of the most exciting parts of my career (all for the love of makeup, Yey!).
Together with my two friends, we were taught how makeup is applied the Shiseido way: beginning with their skin care line – the Benefiance products.
“The Benefiance wrinkle resist 24-hour day emulsion prevents the formation of wrinkles and it’s also very light and is recommended for normal to oily skin,” Chavez explained.
“Moisturizer is vital because our skin dries up easily nowadays due to the humid weather,” she added.

The Shiseido training assistant gave everyone a chance to try the moisturizer by pumping a few drops of the product on the back of our hands.
Chavez also boasted of the ‘aromacology’ component of their skincare line. She said the scent of their skin care line makes the user feel relaxed.

In this picture, Chavez shows the Shiseido ‘makeup for you’ color chart which helps the user and the sales associates to create the right look for the customer. The color chart recommends the right shade of foundation and powder up until the right shades of eye shadows and blush depending on the look that the customer has chosen.

I found the brand’s shimmering cream eye color amazing because of its creamy texture and staying power. It is a bit pricey and although the workshop participants were given 20 percent discount on all Shiseido products that day, the price of the eye color still does not fit in my budget. But in the future, I wish to have one or two shades of the shimmering cream eye color. ^-^
