LIVE A POSITIVE LIFE. INFLUENCE OTHERS.
My favorite Maybelline mascara died today.

I know I shouldn’t use this beyond its shelf life which is anywhere between three to six months. I loved this mascara so much, I used it ‘til it dried up. Truth is, I even felt bad when I finally tossed it in the bin.
But I have to move on and I have decided to finally use the Avon extra lasting mascara that I received about a month ago.

The Avon Extra lasting mascara has an interesting comb-like wand and I remember reading about similar mascara products that does so well in volumizing the lashes.
When I first used it, i just applied it nonchalantly through my lashes and I did not notice anything different about my peepers. When I checked the box a little later, I realized I did not use it the right way.
“TO USE:Prior to use, take out the brush and re-insert it into the vial two to three times or until the teal portion is fully covered. This will ensure maximum shock and even coverage. Apply mascara using sweeping upward strokes with two coats for extreme results,” the instructions in the box said.
“Maximum Shock Coverage” ~ this one made me smile and wonder if I’m really in for a ‘shock.’
Another makeup no-no that I am guilty of is that I never use makeup remover to rid my face of makeup at the end of the day. I just rely on my trusted facial wash and mask (twice a week).
But a look into the user reviews here made me rethink my routine.
Anyway, here’s what Avon Extralasting Mascara can deliver as posted in its official website: “Lashes that outlast your day. 18 hours of full, fluttery lashes. Up to 7X lash volume. All the proofs you need: fade-proof, transfer-proof, smudge-proof, rub-proof and waterproof. .247 oz. net wt. All AVON mascaras are hypoallergenic and opthalmologist-tested.”
I shall post a detailed review on this soon. If you have tried this product, please do tell me what you think about it. ^-^
Cheers!

I am holding my favorite newspaper column about fashion and beauty and I’m thrilled. As usual, I want to put this page inside my bag and take it home with me. I’m inside the press office and I’m holding their copy of the Philippine Star. Yes, I do read and reread beauty articles especially those that present interesting beauty and fashion finds.
Wednesdays are always a treat for me because it’s the day when STYLE S.O.S., the lifestyle column of Lucy Torres-Gomez, Rissa M. Mananquil and Tingting Cojuangco is published.
I read the news because it’s part of my job as a journalist to know what’s happening in the world. But after poring on the pages of serious stuff, my hands know automatically which pages to flip – the lifestyle pages of each and every newspaper, particularly, the STYLE S.O.S. column.
In their column, the authors thoughtfully comment on every reader’s query from makeup to fashion, to beauty remedies and even family matters. It is also lavished with colorful photos related to the matter being discussed that day.
“I find that liquid foundation is best applied with a brush. I use MAC 187 and I really blend and blend and blend for maybe five minutes or so. Start from the center of the face and work your way out. For a sun-kissed flush, swirl cream blush in a circular motion. Set everything with loose powder and put a little highlighter on the forehead, nose, and chin for a youthful glow,” Lucy Torres shares in a 2010 issue of the column.
